Use the worksheet to identify missing answers. It does not score contractors or determine a fair price.

Make sure the proposals describe the same job

Write a one-sentence description of the problem or project. Compare the proposed work against that description, then note differences in materials, quantity, temporary protection, and cleanup.

Where proposals differ, ask the providers to explain why. Avoid assuming a shorter document includes the same details as a longer scope.

Record the details before deciding

Our comparison worksheet keeps three proposals in view. Fill in only what the provider has actually stated. A blank is an unanswered question, not a negative score.

Nothing entered in the worksheet is sent to Roofing Hound or stored on our server. Copy or print your comparison if you want to keep it; refreshing the page clears the fields.

Questions to ask

Ask a specific follow-up question

Instead of asking why one provider costs more, ask about a particular scope difference: whether a material is included, what happens if an assumption changes, or which warranty covers the work.

The FTC recommends multiple written estimates and an explanation for major differences. Use that conversation to make the decision clearer, not to force every provider into an identical quote.
